That’s the idea behind the new website called “The Man’s Guide to Love.” It features hundreds of candid videos of men aged 7 through 80 sharing their feelings about love. For example, in one clip, a man encourages guys not to hide their nerd qualities. Otherwise, he says he never would have met his wife at a live-action-role-playing game.

Another clip features an elementary school kid suggesting that it doesn’t matter what your future wife looks like, the only thing that’s important is that she’s nice. They’re not all romantic – and they don’t always have good advice. Like a 40-year-old man whose advice is to get your girlfriend really mad – mad enough to scream and throw things at you.

He says, that way, you’ll know the woman you’re marrying. While some videos are honest, thoughtful and serious, psychologists don’t recommend most of them. Dr. Stephen Simpson is the author of “A Single Guy’s Guide to Romantic Relationships.” He says the site isn’t exactly a guide.

It’s more a collection of random thoughts about love, from people who are anything but experts. Also, most of the videos are geared toward what makes men fall in love, instead of what makes them stay in love, or what keeps the relationship going. So, psychologists say that if you’re looking for helpful love advice, you may want to seek out books or videos done by experts, like psychologists or relationship counselors.
